Hyundai Sonata has always been regarded as a best-looking sedans that will catch attention of every person on the roads. Primarily positioned against the Kia Optima, the Hyundai Sonata was designed for those customers who wanted to buy one of the best mid-size segment car at an affordable price.  However, sales of Hyundai Sonata have declined recently and hence the Korean company has launched the refreshed 2018 model with a view to bring back the glory of the previous generations.



The 2018 model of Hyundai Sonata comes in five versions, namely the SE version, the SEL version, the Limited version, the Sport version an the Eco model.  Hyundai has provided different engines for different versions. The Eco model gets 1.6-litre Turbo-4 engine while other models are equipped with 2.4-liter Inline-4 engine. The Sport 2.0T and Limited 2.0T model have been fitted with 2.0-liter Turbo engine.

The 2.4-liter engine delivers 185 hp and the 2.o-liter Turbo engine gives 245 hp. The small turbo engine fitted in the Eco model yields 178 hp. The transmission systems included in different Sonata models include a 6-speed automatic transmission, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as well as an 8-speed automatic transmission.


Spacious interiors and excellent driving

Experts who have test-driven the Sonata have been impressed by the quiet and roomy feel of the interiors. The passengers in the backseat will get a legroom of  35.6 inches while the front passenger will get a headroom of 40.4 inches.

The Sonata has one of the best dashboards that are available in the market today. The 8-inch touchscreen features a split screen and one part of the screen is used to display navigation data. The dashboard also features 12V jacks, USB ports, AUX ports and a Qi wireless charging system.

The Sonata’s look has been made more refined by a new cascading grille and a stylized rear end. Moreover, the LED daytime running lights and the LED headlamps give the class a stylish look. The well-ventilated seats provide the desired level of comfort while driving the car.

The tilted and telescoped steering wheel provides the necessary level of precision. The Sonata can be driven with a top-speed of 205 km/h. Additionally, the car can scale up its speed from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.9 seconds.


Safety features

With a starting price of AED 69,900, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is car that has more features for money. Besides the comfortable interior, the new Hyundai Sonata has several safety features like blind spot monitors, adaptive cruise control,  rear cross-traffic alerts, automatic emergency braking and rearview cameras. Additionally, passenger safety has been enhanced by seven standard airbags.
